Pad

Officially moved into my summer pad-- unpacking to be done and ice cubes to be chilled. I promise my posts will become more periodic once I'm settled.

PRESS PLAY: I'm Awesome- Spose

A couple days ago, I was talking to a stranger sitting next to me about blogs. I told her I was a humble fashion blogger yada yada yada when do we play?. And then my pancreas dropped about 14 inches when she told me that a friend of a friend sent her the link to it. As much potential as I think When Do We Play? has, I didn't think anyone read this thing except a handful of friends. Let's be real, I'm about 90% sure I get more excited when strangers invest a couple minutes to skim through my words than I do when my friends drop by the site. I wish I could get a real head count of readers, I'd be so stoked to at least hear from all of them (hint: comment). No photos today, just love.

Double Cross Me

PRESS PLAY: Animal- Miike Snow

Finally got my hands on this bad boy. I've been praying for it (haha, get it?) pretty much since the 2010 ball dropped. Next on my wish list is Pamela Love something-- Pamela Love anything, really. I cannot wait for my summer to begin.  Spent this past weekend in La-La land, saw some of my favorite people in the world. A cross-state road trip is in the works, could not be more excited for riding top down and making friends with new people and making love to old ones. Realized today how good I have it and how truly grateful I am for fam, friends, paychecks, and cell phone reception. I am so in love with my life.

Home is where the hotdog is

PRESS PLAY: Bulletproof- La Roux

Spent Saturday afternoon driving to hang out in Westwood & Hollyhood at night. Gorged on Pink's and Diddy Riese in between showing my favie non-native around to various landmarks. Paying for it today because I'm pretty sure my jeans were a little more snug when I put them on this morning. Realizing today I should have stopped somewhere to pick up some cobalt blue nail polish. Lace collection is slowly growing, I know you must be wondering. Made Bulletproof my new ringtone, quite the upgrade from Party In The USA. I have too much to do, not enough time to do it, and not nearly enough willpower. Where there's no will, there's no way. I should probably go work on rectifying that after I do some online shopping.  PS world, didn't see my mom on mother's day.  If anyone sees her, tell her I love her and she the, she the best.  The best I ever had.

Forever Young

PRESS PLAY: Summer Love- Justin Timberlake

Street fairs and flea markets seem to be the theme for the last couple of weeks, that's how I know summer's right around the corner. Whenever I see propped up tents, I get unhealthily excited. Pro: I find amazing jewelry and clothing. Con: I find amazing jewelry and clothing for crazy prices. My other problem is that I'm too good at justifying irresponsible purchases. As a result of this purchasing flaw, I reaped the benefits of an awesome wrap-around watch from the cutest vendor couple I've ever come across. Shared a few words with an inspiring gal and bought an acid-wash v-neck with "Forever Young" stamped across the front also. Plan on doing some serious damage in this tee all summer. Peace and blessings, spring. I'm done with you.

Put A Ring On It

PRESS PLAY: Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare- Matt & Kim

Did some shopping but mostly window-gazing on a visit to Cedros Ave. today. Bought a turquoise ring encased in a fork (the turquoise one pictured in the jewelry dish), considered selling unnecessary body parts for it. Long story short, I still have two kidneys but no D's to throw. I wish I could make cute jewelry. I heard it's easy, like tying a shoe. Not. Need more rings. Need more fingers.

It's Not Cashew, It's Not Ketchup

PRESS PLAY: Hungover- Ke$ha

My head's been hurting for the last few days like it's the morning after. There's no boy in the picture right now (although I do wish for one many-a-chilly night), but this song is so definitive of the throbbing pulse in my head. It's like a song is playing at just one volume click too loud and I can't find the remote to turn it down. Thanks for making a song with the words I can't form myself.

I might be saying this because I'm sleep deprived, but I might also be saying this because I'm so sleep deprived, I can't hide my true feelings any longer. I've kind of been obsessed with this chick for quite some time. Glitter is one of my favorite colors, so her use of it in all her makeup and media makes me get a little weak in the knees. Every time one of her songs comes on the radio, yes, I sing the lyrics like a pop-hungry teenager. But when I picture myself as a singer, I imagine myself being her down to the jewelry and her apparent lack of possession of a brush. I've seen her interviews and this girl's got sass. Plus, she's nice to look at.

She's my current obsession because I feel like she and I could be such good friends. Seriously? This chick was told she was a lightweight, a victim in the "cauldron of celebrity culture." Her response? "I have been working on realizing this dream, my path, my mission. I've really invested a lot of thought, time and effort into it. The last thing that makes me is a victim." We'll toast to that one day, Ke$ha, one day. Until then, wear glitter for the both of us.

Del Prado

PRESS PLAY: The Reeling- Passion Pit

I know I only have like 7 dedicated readers, but for those of you who care, this weekend was hipster-rich. Had a couple photo shoots around town, any excuse to buy pretty things and bask in my youth. Who feels me?

Trekked to Balboa Park for the Earth Day Festival to reminisce my childhood day camp-days, publicly love the Earth, get my fix of free schwag, attempt to track down rings to add to my collection, but mostly for the sake of extra credit. Success on walking down memory lane, professing my love. Copped a pair of shades, some shirts, quite a few reusable tote bags, greek yogurt (peach, yum), the usual. Negative on the rings, especially because if I bought anything I remotely liked, I'd have a negative number in my bank account. Bought a cropped shirt for like $2 though, sweet deal. The tentative plan is to rock it tomorrow with some cigarette jeans.

Note to self: take actual/better pictures for all future posts.

I wanted a cute little place I could unwind after the heat of the day, I've been looking for awhile now. Nothing so far, love this city all the same. But it's days like this I miss swanky little cafes in LA. Does the Urth Caffe cross-county deliver? Doubt it but I'll keep my tired little fingers crossed anyways.

On a side note: got another taste of the summer today. I'm like four pairs of shorts and two shades of blonde short of being ready. I'm also thinking of stocking up on lace in the coming months. Lace, summer. Summer, lace. That doesn't even make sense.

Stuffy

PRESS PLAY: Violent and Young- Iglu & Hartley

Being sick stinks. My end table is as cluttered as my nose & mind. Left to right: Nail polish from some salon in Los Angeles in California Coral, my summer love, make-up bag that I haven't bothered to touch since I caught what seems like the plague a few days ago, a collection of jewelry in a dish that doubles as an ice cream lid, inhaler to cure the sickies that I've been considering blinging out for the longest (geek or chic?), infinite supply of water & OJ to get me through a depression, and AA's lookbook. I need the universe to know that I have too much to do to stay sick including cleaning this end table and my schedule up.

I want to paint this city gold, how am I supposed to accomplish that if I have a cold?

Rock My World

PRESS PLAY: I Shake I Move- LMFAO

Earlier today was the first time I can legitimately say I was awake during this type of natural disaster. Measured in at about 6.9 here in sunny La Jolla, how kinky. But it wasn't today's quake that rocked my weekend.

When do we play?'s alma mater was answered when I stepped through the Arena doors last night. Me and a bunch of people I've been meaning to spend quality time with stood just inches away from the stage where LMFAO opened the show with a less than tasteful performance.  I'm not even sure I care though. Those guys have so much swagger dripping from their pores, I sort of wish I was them in the body of a goddess. Luda was next, and despite the pounds he's managed to pack into a cute little pot belly, the girls were still going wild and I don't blame them. Got to see my girl Taeko work it out on stage with him, props to her for the love throughout the set. The camera guy managed to catch about 10 seconds of me belting "What's Your Fantasy" at the top of my lungs...for the entire arena to see on the big screen. Too cla$$y.

Black Eyed Peas did not disappoint, they were so fab that throwing some D's down to pay for my ticket + the E.N.D. tour shirt didn't feel like an irresponsible thing to do. At one point amidst the flow of old beats and new lyrics, Fergie had on these knee-high studded boots that I would give my left arm to own. It's too bad I didn't stop chanting lyrics long enough to snap a flick. I was kind of bummed that she didn't do something exciting like pee in her pants, but she winked at me so I guess I'll call a truce. BEP closed the show with an extended version of Where Is The Love?, further proving that I have nothing but the utmost respect for this foursome.

Woke up this morning with a fat concert hangover, ears ringing and all that jazz. I was thrown back into reality when I clocked in for the man and was given my very first pair of dumpy Shoes for Crews mary janes. Quite the downgrade going from these babies, but not I'd-rather-slip-on-my-butt-than-wear-these ugly.

And even though the weekend isn't officially over, it's time to play student and get a paper done.

Peace, love, and the Black Eyed Peas.

The Orange

PRESS PLAY: Orange Shirt- Discovery

When do we play? Music, dress-up, date. The most important thing about beginning new ventures is starting them off with a bang, an Orange Bang. No grand launch party, as our college pockets are mainly lined with lint. Just a cup of whipped goodness brought to us by our world famous, San Diego native adorned, Food Network approved El Indio. Cheers, you music-fiending, fashion-hungry Internet socialites (all 3 of you, at least until we get this musically savvy, hipster train wreck on the road).

Give it a rest and go to bed, we'll play tomorrow.
